Makeathon 2.0 drew nearly 250 participants to the Art and Architecture building in early February 2015, with over 50 teams presenting in the Final Expo. Teams competed in 3 categories and over $4000 was given in prizes. The winners were as follows…

Toys & Entertainment: A lamp that allowed users to control the red, green, and blue color settings of the LEDs inside the lamp

Health & Wellness: An automatic wheelchair controlled by Myo Armbands using simple, customizable arm movements

Environment & Energy: Solar charging backpack that can charge your electronic devices as you walk

2014

Makeathon 2014 attracted 80 participants from 4 universities in SE Michigan to Tech Shop Detroit with 20 teams building innovative products and $1000 distributed in prizes.

Winning product: Chair that allowed the disabled and elderly to easily get in and out of a chair

Second Place: Re-arrangeable dorm shelving

Third Place: Sports sensor to be placed on a football so when it touched the ground, it would light up, alerting the referees that the play was completed
